As it’s the end of another year, I have been reflecting over all that has happened. It’s just amazing to think of all the wonderful people we have met, the travels we have been on, taking on projects that we’ve wanted to do for ages, the fun that we had, and the amazing, exciting and challenging work we were hired to shoot! 2010 was a great year for You Can’t Be Serious! and for us as a family.
We feel really grateful to all the people who have hired us and companies that have trusted us to deliver great work to them. We want to wish all our clients, friends and family a wonderful 2011. Thank you for your support! Also many thanks to all of you who stop by our blog from time to time. It is so great to have your company, comments and thoughts!
Wishing you all a most wonderful 2011, full of colour, fun, sunshine and love! This video is for YOU!

Can you believe we are nearly at Christmas?!?!?! How did this happen?
Quick I better post this video we shot in November!!
I have been doing a few of these web-intro videos and each time I make one I learn sooo much and meet amazing people. This time was no exception!
When I started thinking about what to do for Pobke Photography’s video I knew Christine HAD to be in it!! Christine is amazing with kids – my girls loved her in about 5 minutes!! She is totally delightful and fun. Even after 2 days of filming and sticky hot weather and 15 kids crowding around her she is smiling and patient!
Below are a few behind-the-scenes stills of the filming for this video. Including some shots of more super talented photographers turned clowns – Samm Blake and Dan O’Day Also a shot of my mini director – Poppy!!

Here is the video!! Hope you enjoy!

And now for something completely different!
If you’ve looked at our film website recently, you might have seen a trailer for one of our short films – ‘Ruby Who?’ It’s about a little girl who wishes for everything, gets it, and then realises it doesn’t live up to it’s promise. It doesn’t make her happy.
Ruby Who? has been a very successful little film, screening around the world at dozens of film festivals and winning several awards. We started to cotton on to a new life for it though, when we were approached by a number of schools and groups who wanted to buy a copy of the film to show their pupils – especially primary-aged girls. The feedback was that it powerfully communicated the message of how important it is to know yourself, and be yourself. What you have and what you look like does not make you who you are. It was the message that originally inspired us to make the film – being a parent to two very observant girls we kept coming up against a need to explain how wishing to be like others, or have what other people have, can be a trap and will not make you happy.
So we decided to develop supporting materials, in consultation with childcare workers and teachers, that would help other parents and teachers who are trying to discuss the same topics with their kids. Which brings us to a new site we are launching called ‘I Like To Be Me!‘ Initially it is a way we can market the ‘Ruby Who’ DVD and all the associated products like worksheets, colouring in, badges, stickers, tee-shirts and a soon-to-be-completed illustrated kids book. But over time we will be adding more resources – films, articles, books and so on that will further help support parents and teachers in their bid to boost the self-esteem of little ones and provide a way to discuss sensitive topics like body-image, gratitude, positivity and the consumerist society.
We’d love it if you would take a moment to check out some of the material on the site, maybe buy a DVD or some of our cute badges for a special little person!
Let us know what you think!

Here’s a sneak peek at one of the fun couples we’ve been lucky enough to spend some time with recently – Luke and Mani. They got married at a park in North Fitzroy, Melbourne and we didn’t have to travel far around that area to find some really fun locations for photos! Of course it helps when the groom knows how to get some serious air in his wedding Cons…
We’ll be back with more soon! Honest!

Lately we have been photographing quite a few children and families. It is an honour to capture all these little moments that are like magic.
Today we put together a bunch of shots from a few different family photography sessions. These are the ones that make me smile. Little looks of love, snuggles or delightfully cheeky grins. These are the moments that make me want to take more photos!
Thanks to all these beautiful families who are trusting me to photograph them!!

Hope you find these make you smile too.
Mostly I like that these photos remind me to look for my own moments like these every day. They are flicking by at such great speed!! (I must post some photos of my girls!!)
Happy Tuesday!

Lately we have had the honour of photographing heaps of lovely families!! It is wonderful to see all the love and delight between kids and their parents. I am so lucky to get to capture this for people! Will post lots of photos when we return from all the weddings and fun projects we have going over the next 2 weeks.
In the meantime just one little photo of one of my favourite families to capture… my little sister and her little man!

Georgia writes the most wonderful blog over HERE called Gregariouspeach so do go check it out!! She posts daily cuteness and often brings tears to my eyes with her writing!!
Actually her parent musings can also be found featured over HERE too. Marvellous Kiddo!! A great site!!
While I am on a linking frenzy how about checking out the latest happenings over at Me&Megan. You can see some of our images in the Publicity folder over there… lots of press happening for these guys!!
Ok – bye for now!! Back soon!

Oh dear it seems I have another bumper blog post! I am getting carried away… let me know if this takes too long to load because I have included too many pics?? I couldn’t resist!
This is a super fun 60s style wedding. I had a total ball dodging rain and catching all the fantastic moments this delightful couple put on!
Marika and Eden are amazing and talented creatives… Marika is one of the creators of the wonderful children’s label Polkakids. If you don’t know this label you MUST go look!! LOVE it!
This wedding day was amazing and even though the rain and storms tried their very best to put a damper on the party, these guys and their beautiful family and friends were not put off at all.
Held at a fantastic old pink hotel in Coolangatta, Marika and Eden went all out to create a great event full of vintage style and fun. From the cool ‘fine time’ drinks to the button badges… (which by the way is the coolest thing I have ever been given at a wedding!! I wear ours all the time!!) However my favorite part of the day was during the ceremony as Eden started to say his vows, their darling daughter who is 4yrs old yells out.. “and make her happy!” It was the sweetest moment!!
I have a pretty amazing job! I get to meet gorgeous people and work with them on one of the most special days of their life.
‘Fiesta Forever’ was the theme for the day and I think Marika and Eden are no doubt going to have a FIESTA FOREVER!!

This is going to be a bumper blog post!!
Sean and Carrie had a totally delightful wedding. Completely filled to the brim with creative ideas and the most gorgeous smiles!
The wedding was held on a property just near Bangalow and Byron Bay. Gurragawee is a fantastic wedding location.. I am in love with this place! I wanted to move in!! They also run fantastic art workshops so do check them out.
There was ominous clouds circling half the day and I thought we were going to end up wet but instead the clouds parted and we even had a little sunshine!!

Happy Sunday from us!

Friends, you feared it might never happen. You assumed we were just hot air. That our repeated assurances of ‘our new site is under construction‘ were the online equivalent of ‘the cheque’s in the mail‘. But I, Andrew, am here to tell you to put your slippers on and gather your kids because I have some news…
You Can’t Be Serious is proud to announce the official launch of their new website www.youcantbeserious.com.au! *cue streamers and thunderous applause*
Featuring a sparkling new landing page that effortlessly directs you to the various sub-sites, we think that you will now be able to get a feel for the broad range of work we are able to do. There’s short films, web promos, music videos, commercial photography, graphic design, fun personal projects, kid’s animations, and links to new projects that we’re working on as well.
Special thanks must go to our tireless online consultant programmer developer genius technician… guy… Keiran for putting up with my repeated changes of direction and design. We were unable to present him with a challenge he couldn’t overcome… although we gave it our best shot!
Hailey has edited together a very entertaining showreel which is supported by a very sprightly backing track kindly provided by the fantastic local lads Hungry Kids of Hungary. Definitely check them out if you feel your feet tapping.
And lastly, we’d love to connect with you via Facebook or Twitter so please click on the link on the main page to make sure you never miss out on what we’re up to.
Hope you enjoy looking around and feel free to get in touch if you have any queries about our work!
