Marika & Eden – Coolangatta wedding

Oh dear it seems I have another bumper blog post! I am getting carried away… let me know if this takes too long to load because I have included too many pics?? I couldn’t resist!

This is a super fun 60s style wedding. I had a total ball dodging rain and catching all the fantastic moments this delightful couple put on!

Marika and Eden are amazing and talented creatives…  Marika is one of the creators of the wonderful children’s label Polkakids. If you don’t know this label you MUST go look!! LOVE it!

This wedding day was amazing and even though the rain and storms tried their very best to put a damper on the party, these guys and their beautiful family and friends were not put off at all.

Held at a fantastic old pink hotel in Coolangatta, Marika and Eden went all out to create a great event full of vintage style and fun. From the cool ‘fine time’ drinks to the button badges… (which by the way is the coolest thing I have ever been given at a wedding!! I wear ours all the time!!) However my favorite part of the day was during the ceremony as Eden started to say his vows, their darling daughter who is 4yrs old yells out.. “and make her happy!” It was the sweetest moment!!

I have a pretty amazing job! I get to meet gorgeous people and work with them on one of the most special days of their life.

‘Fiesta Forever’ was the theme for the day and I think Marika and Eden are no doubt going to have a FIESTA FOREVER!!

Sean & Carrie – Byron Bay wedding

This is going to be a bumper blog post!!

Sean and Carrie had a totally delightful wedding. Completely filled to the brim with creative ideas and the most gorgeous smiles!

The wedding was held on a property just near Bangalow and Byron Bay. Gurragawee is a fantastic wedding location.. I am in love with this place! I wanted to move in!! They also run fantastic art workshops so do check them out.

There was ominous clouds circling half the day and I thought we were going to end up wet but instead the clouds parted and we even had a little sunshine!! ;)

Happy Sunday from us!

Pedzi & Julia

This Brisbane wedding was packed full of laughter and the best smiles in the world! It was a delight to be photographing all these happy people.

My favorite part of the wedding was when Pedzi’s mother danced and sang whenever significant things happened during the ceremony. It was so fantastic! The crowd yelled and cheered and it made the ceremony into a party!! Now I need to go to Africa for more ‘African’ influenced weddings. Fun! Fun! Fun!

Ok… lets not do words… let’s do pictures!!

What are we up to?

So many different things going on here I am finding it tricky to keep up! We have been spending lots of time working on our new website. I do believe we are not too far off now! Some of the changes are already up but heaps more to come! I can’t wait till it is live!

We are reading this fantastic book which just happens to have a chapter written by ME!!! (however I am not reading that chapter!!)

You can find out more about it here LOMOKEV.

Just finished editing an engagement session for this adorable couple.  We photographed this session in the beautiful Bangalow. It was a total delight working with these two!

Have you seen this wedding blog site? VERY COOL! I am completely honored to be featured on it sometimes!
Love Olio, the most creative wedding photographers in the world.

Another thing that is keeping us super busy is Earnest. Having a dog is a little harder then I thought it would be!!! (yes mum, you were right!!)

Earnest is not a little guy anymore and we have had a bit of strict strike!! (STRICT STRIKE – a word my dear friend Aaron used while growing up together… My family was VERY strict and his not as much but after hanging out with my family his parents always went on a ‘strict strike’ for 2 weeks after. I am hoping we can last longer then 2 weeks!)

Even though Earnest is rather a handful…  we are getting there and enjoy his funny ears. When we are at the beach they catch the wind and stand straight up!!

You can see a funny shot of what they normally look like HERE.

Amy & Dan – Brisbane wedding photography

We have had a great response to the last post!! Thanks for all the wonderful comments and blogging.

You can see some posts about it here and here.

Also special thanks to Polkadot bride who did another feature of one of our weddings. We love seeing our work on this fantastic site. Go check it out!! HERE.

Now… another wonderful wedding! It was an absolute pleasure to photograph! We started the day with some creative shots at an old dilapidated building in Paddington. It was soo delightful seeing a couple who could not stop smiling at each other and laughing.

Amy and Dan have the cutest little boy named Jack… he joined us for a few photos and the odd bubble blowing. He was sooo cute he made me wish we had a little boy!

Amy and Dan had a beautiful relaxed ceremony at their favorite local cafe – Sassafrass in Paddington. Yummi food, good friends, loads of laughter and a beautiful couple who decided to tell everyone they want to be together. I have a great job!

Dan & Liz – Melbourne wedding

I have been so busy and very slow to blog but I promise to catch up now!!

We love travelling down to Melbourne for weddings. This wedding was no exception! Liz and Dan had a lovely relaxed wedding ceremony at Mentone beach Surf Club. Before that though we met up at a park in Surrey Hills for some lush greenery. We had perfect sunny weather and the beach front location was stunning. I loved the dress Liz chose and the flowers were beautiful. Thanks guys for choosing us to be part of your day.

Byron Bay film festival

We are thrilled to be heading to the Byron Bay International Film Festival to see our short film “Getting Dad” screen.

Wonderful to be selected to screen at a festival I can actually go to! Only a little drive away… There really is nothing like seeing your film screen with an audience. So fun to hear people laugh when you meant it to be funny and ‘get’ what the film is about. An honor!!

Here are a few stills from the film. Come along and see it!!!

Very excited to show you the first wedding video by our good friend and colleague Pancho Colladetti. We now offer wedding videos alongside our photography! Pancho is AMAZING!!! Check it out here:

.

Also I have had a few people asking about how to make giant heads like here and here .

So here is what we did…

1. Take a few close up images against a plain backdrop.

picture-2

2. Pick your favourite fun image and grab a giant brush colouring over the top and neck.

picture-5

3. Rotate and crop as needed.picture-7

4. Process how you like it, re-size for print. We did 1m x 1m.

picture-8

5. Take your files to a large format printer. We recommend getting vinyl prints with the sticky backing. However we un-wisely opted for the high quality print but no sticky back. So we cut out the faces and then glued them to backing board with spray glue. HOWEVER this is a 3 person job and fiddly and the glue did not hold as well as we hoped. SO if you can avoid it, DO!!!

6. Once our boards and pictures were joined and cut to face shape, we gaffa taped some sticks on the back! EASY! and fun!

Let me know if any questions, happy to help!

Masquerade Wedding – Newcastle

This will be my very last blog post for 2009!!

We traveled to Newcastle to photograph this wedding and it was the last wedding for the year. It was wonderful! GREAT to be in a different city and such a fun wedding to photograph too!

Michael and Madeline had a masquerade ball theme for their wedding. They were married in a stone church in Morpeth. This was the first time I’ve been to Morpeth I could of stayed all day and photographed. It was delighful and so many fantastic backdrops. These guys were very easy going and happy to do whatever I asked… including some hair-brained idea to jump a wire fence and go into a burnt out field. I have so many favorites from this wedding, it is going to be a bumper blog post!
