Billi Jade swimwear – Brisbane commercial photographer

I love that my job is so diverse. Some weeks it is commercial photography and then the next week we are all about weddings!

I recently had so much fun capturing a brand new swim wear label called Billi Jade. My girls are wearing some of these swimsuits in the ‘Summer’ video I just put up last week.

Lien created Billi Jade and is so inspiring! She has 3 kids and launched this business herself. In the pursuit of a more creative and fun job she has created an amazing label. Billi Jade is colourful, fun and totally delightful!. I am thrilled to be photographing for her!

Currently the Billi Jade website is being built but you can check them out on Facebook here: Billi Jade

There is also a great shop in Brisbane if you’re locally based.

Next we are shooting the gorgeous dance wear that Lien from Billi Jade has designed. I can’t wait!!

If you are keen to stay in the You Can’t be Serious! loop why not follow us on Facebook too : You can’t be serious is fun

365 grateful. 30 days of grateful in video

In Jan/Feb this year I decided to try a video version of 365 grateful. Because sometimes a still shot just doesn’t quite do it!

This is the little video I created with the grateful moments over 30 days… Hope you enjoy! You can find the fun music here: The Bobby McGees.

My current 365 grateful project (shot on the iphone) is coming along well. I really enjoy doing this everyday and the iphone version is very easy, as I always have it handy!! You can check it out at our posterous site.

If you’re interested, I use the: Shake it photo app.

I was so thrilled at the pretty montage Andrew did for me that I asked him to make me one for the Polaroid version of 365 Grateful. You can see this below. So fun to see all these beautiful moments together. Really is amazing to think I have been going on this since 2008.

If you have done a grateful project I would LOVE to see links or hear your stories and adventures with this. It has made such an impression on me and hearing how others find it worthwhile would be lovely!

Brisbane band photography. Nadia Sunde and the best band in the world.

I have had a few band photography inquiries lately and I just wanted to say YES indeed we love to do band and musician photography.

I had the pleasure of photographing this delightful group a few months ago. Nadia Sunde and the Best Band in the World. They sound amazing! My kids loved the show these guys put on at the State Library so do go and buy their album! You may remember the music from our Christmas video?

If you want to go into the draw to win Nadia playing a live concert at your children’s party or family gathering…. Purchase one of the cds before end of July.  Here is the link: Nadia Sunde

I think the offer is about to expire so you may want to be quick, I also believe it is only valid for these locations:  (NNSW, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast)

This was photographed on a miserable rainy cold day in the cutest little cottage near Mt Crosby. I loved all the retro furniture!

We have been so tied up fixing up our website we have neglected our blog!! Thanks for checking in and reading just the same. I promise to start back on a roll shortly!

Today I am so excited to show you the job I did while in Chicago.

I was hired by Classic Kids Photography to make them a little story/video for their website. This little film is going to be used on Facebook and online to show people more about this wonderful group of photographers. There are nine different studios around America so if you’re in the U.S be sure to check them out! They use film! It was so wonderful working with these guys and I could not have been looked after better. Hope you enjoy seeing a little of their beautiful work.

Without further ado, here is their video:

Also I must include a still shot of my new friend Tera and her gorgeous pup Oliver. Thanks for showing me your exciting town, I had a blast!

Chicago and L.A photography

We have been back from the U.S for nearly 3 weeks but only tonight have I managed to look over the shots we took. Ahhh… so so many fun fun memories!

I went to Chicago to do a job for a fantastic company based there. It was a wonderful time and I hope soon to post more about that job. Not only was it a fun little film to make, but the people I met were amazing! Inspiring and extremely good to me!!

We didn’t think the kids and Andrew would be able to come but last minute (the week before) we managed to juggle it! They stayed in L.A while I went tripping off to Chicago by myself. I am rarely without my gorgeous kids and Andrew, so being alone I thought would be hard – but it was fantastic! ;) I had a ball! Will talk more about that when I can share the video with you.

When the job was finished I headed back to my little family and we had a fantastic time playing around Santa Monica and all the other fun things to do in L.A.

Here are a few pics from Chicago.

Then back in L.A doing what it seems everyone does… ride bikes! And also a little less popular – dig very deep holes and nearly get lost in them…

I had my birthday over there and went to the largest LOMOGRAPHY store in the world! Yippeeee! I also managed to purchase another plastic fantastic for my collection!

Lastly we met up with my totally fantastic brother and his cute family.

They drove ALL the way from Colorado to visit us!! ;) We had the best time hanging out with them and even went to the ‘Happiest place on Earth!’ Disneyland of course. (and despite my skepticism it was so fun! – except for the part where we lost my brother’s 5 year old daughter for half an hour…urg!) Seeing my brother and his family was wonderful… So fun we are going to have to plan another trip!

When I am 72! – brisbane portrait photography

and a little Facebook feature here: FBstylemepretty

I have so many photos I have not blogged lately. Sooo before I go I must share one!! Most exciting to me is this amazing woman, Suse.

Suse is constantly inspiring me with her outlook and love of  life, her energy and excitement for meaningful conversation, the way she loves dogs and Eckhart Tolle and living in the NOW. I am so so inspired! I recently had the pleasure of interviewing her for a project I have brewing. While I have no time to do the full edited video, I hope to share this in the future. For now here are a few photos I took and some of her amazing words.

This is what I want to be like when I am 72!!!

suse

The interview with Suse was on growing old, how it has been for her and the advice she offered.

Here is a little piece from our chat:

Hailey: “Suse what would you tell yourself about growing older if you met yourself again in your 20s?”

Suse: “Like a lot of women when I was in my 20s, I thought my value was in my looks and in my attractiveness -  but that takes you out of life and out of living. If I could go back I would tell myself – Don’t put that emphasis! It is put on us by society – I was not like that as a little girl! It is totally inhibiting and shuts down your awareness and enjoyment of life. You put your attention on what you see as your faults and how you can improve your looks. Therefore your attention is right away from the moment and relishing life! I would say FORGET IT KID!… now I am 72 and lost my looks and people still like me, they probably like me MORE! Forget all the bullshit about pleasing other people.. you never will!! Give up trying to please anybody else! Just Be yourself! Watch out for yourself… is this authentic? ask yourself… is this truly me? Do I feel this is right or am I trying to fit myself into some kind of a mold so that I am acceptable to others? Chuck that away!”

Pedzi & Julia – engagement photography

I am sorry to say blogging has been very neglected lately. We are busy and keeping up is harder then I thought it would be! I am off to the U.S next week so maybe a little slow over this time too.

Also in other news the website is down because a new one is Nearly ready! Some delays because a crazy person decided to re-brand our business…. ;) New look and logo coming soon.

In the meantime… photos!

I have a number of ideas that I have been busting to do, waiting for just the right people…

When I met Julia, I had a feeling I would be able to convince her and her lovely fiance, Pedzi to let me do THIS idea!

Thanks guys!! You are both sooo brave and wonderful!! I think your life together is going to be great fun and I am sure with smiles like yours you will bring lots of laughter and delight wherever you go.

We both totally enjoyed hanging out with you two and can’t wait for the BIG day!!

Pretty and very tidy images coming soon. For now I leave you with my favorites.

Sydney portrait – Me & Megan

I was so excited to fly to Sydney and do a portrait session with this gorgeous couple, Megan and Jason.

The amazing thing about these two is they are making a doco film about their relationship and working away from each other for a whole year! Jason is staying in Sydney and Megan has already left on a year long trip to Ethiopia to do volunteer work. It’s a great story and I am really looking forward to following them here:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/MeMegan/112714468745829

If you go to the facebook page you can already see a couple video stories on the whole process and follow them as they take on this adventure. Jason is a great film maker and won Tropfest NY a couple of years ago with this amazing film:

Mankind is No Island

These shots below are for them but also for using in the PR and promo of the film.
