Byron Bay film festival

We are thrilled to be heading to the Byron Bay International Film Festival to see our short film “Getting Dad” screen.

Wonderful to be selected to screen at a festival I can actually go to! Only a little drive away… There really is nothing like seeing your film screen with an audience. So fun to hear people laugh when you meant it to be funny and ‘get’ what the film is about. An honor!!

Here are a few stills from the film. Come along and see it!!!

Very excited to show you the first wedding video by our good friend and colleague Pancho Colladetti. We now offer wedding videos alongside our photography! Pancho is AMAZING!!! Check it out here:

.

Also I have had a few people asking about how to make giant heads like here and here .

So here is what we did…

1. Take a few close up images against a plain backdrop.

picture-2

2. Pick your favourite fun image and grab a giant brush colouring over the top and neck.

picture-5

3. Rotate and crop as needed.picture-7

4. Process how you like it, re-size for print. We did 1m x 1m.

picture-8

5. Take your files to a large format printer. We recommend getting vinyl prints with the sticky backing. However we un-wisely opted for the high quality print but no sticky back. So we cut out the faces and then glued them to backing board with spray glue. HOWEVER this is a 3 person job and fiddly and the glue did not hold as well as we hoped. SO if you can avoid it, DO!!!

6. Once our boards and pictures were joined and cut to face shape, we gaffa taped some sticks on the back! EASY! and fun!

Let me know if any questions, happy to help!

Jinky Art intro film

Very behind in blogging here!!

Just wanted to send everyone over to Jinky Arts website to take a look at the lovely little film we collaborated on.

Barb from JinkyArt is an excellent visionary, a producer/director and wrote a fantastic storyline. Of course she also shot all the beautiful stills throughout the film.

I was delighted to co-direct with her and film/edit this piece. The talent is Amelie who just amazes me with her energy and ability to act!! She truely was amazing, thanks so much for all your hard work Amelie and Jo.

The music is by Paperkites, check out their myspace .

Band - music video sneak peek!!

From births… we now move on to bands. (OOH i love my job!)

We had a super fun (and very hot!) weekend shooting a music video for Fushia, a local up and coming band.

It was very hot and sweaty in Ryan’s (the lead singer guy) room. 20 people packed in like sardines dancing to the bands song ERASER.

When I finish editing I will load the video, but for now, some photos to give you all a little taste of what it shall be like!

Here is Pancho, (cameraman and lighting tech and a bit of everything… general great guy), after one of the scenes was shot…. he couldn’t open his eyes because they were full of feather dust!

jump_2

The lights were too bulky to set up in Ryan’s bedroom so here is Andrew (lighting/hunkaspunk/helper) and Pancho working out the lighting system in the little black box we created for the lights…. outside the bedroom window.

Here I am shooting crazy rabbit head…. (thanks to Pancho for this shot)

Next day we shot at this fantastic semi tip - semi mine location. Here are the boys shading themselves while we set up the bed in the field.

My Funny Family - clay animation

I am very proud to present our newest clay animation. You can see our old one here.
“My Funny Family’ was written by Poppy (5yrs) and all the characters made by Zali (9yrs).
We had so much fun together creating this little bundle of colour.

My sister Bene came down to help us shoot and animate this so a BIG thanks to you Bene!!

I thought I would include some funny little shots of the behind the scenes.

This is Poppy’s sketches and storyboard for the project.

Next Zali working on the characters.
