365. GRATEFUL – fun fun!

For the last year I have been doing a 365 polaroid project. In April it will be 1 year. One whole year of taking a grateful photo everyday!

Lately this project has been gaining a little bit of media attention and I thought I would share.

NOTEBOOK – magazine April issue has a wonderful 6 page spread on my project! Here is some of the pages!

They mention it here too:

I have always thought this project was wonderful. In ever single way. The photos you’ve taken because of it will surely become more meaningful with each passing year. Congratulations on the recognition. It is always deserved where you are concerned.

Congratulations Hailey, your project has been presented just beautifully in Notebook. You will probably inspire many others to begin a similar project of their own (including me!) Are you going to keep going? Maybe not every day but ‘things I’m grateful for this month’ ?? How else will us ordinary folk keep up with what’s going on with your gorgeous family!

Hi guys… thanks for the lovely comments.

Susan – I will definitely be continuing just working out what way or form that will take. EVERYDAY though is good for me! :)

Rachel – yes this project is so fun to look over… I am pleased to have a record of everyday! I am sure as my girls grow up it will become even more special as you say!

Hi Hailey. This is beautiful. I love to see your photos and watch your girls grow up. You are incredibly talented and I’m glad others can get to see your work.

Hailey, read the Notebook article and just wanted to say I’m so ‘grateful’ for your work! Magnificent. Your professional photography is dreamy … thank you for making me smile! :-D

Hi Hailey, I read this article today and wanted to say ‘hi’. I love your pictures :)

I’m so inspired by your story in Notebook magazine and I’m going to do my own 365 grateful. I’ve always been one to dream about the future or wish I was back in the past and your story made me realise that I need to enjoy the here and now. I’m a photographer also and my fav way to relax is sit somewhere and just fiddle with my camera (one time I sat in the bath tub with a tea light candle on the edge and got some great shots out of it, not to mention the relaxation!!!) so I’m going to try and spend more of my time doing this, since I love it so much! I must also mention that I really enjoyed looking around your site and will check back regularly! Thanks for the inspiration.

Hailey, you’re a legend. I love this project. All that it’s about, and how beautiful the photos are… I tried to read a bit of the article posted on this website as I don’t have a copy of NOTEBOOK and it looks fantastic. Such a fan of your work and what you’re doing. I hope we can meet up again somewhere in the world! x

  • I have a copy of the April issue of Notebook, and I was just drawn to your story, and the photos, and feeling quite melancholy, or gloomy. I really do know logically there are more good things than bad things, yet somehow the bad outweighs the good, but your photographic posts, and obvious love of family, and pride in them.. its really stunning and inspiring. I may give this a go (once I get a good camera!)
Love the design of your website too :)

    Hi Hailey
What a wonderful idea you have created, well done!
Such a fabulous idea and after reading notebook yesterday (2/4/09) today I’m about to start my 365 reasons to be grateful – thank you.

    Hello
I read the article in Notebook today and became so inspired. It actually made me quite tearful as we have been going through such a struggly old time. Although I’ve always been a big believer in positive thoughts, it seemed as if all the everyday magic was being lost as we became caught up in all the dramas of everyday life and renovation. Your photos and project has inspired us to do the same with our daughter. We have become quite excited about capturing all the joyful things we normally miss such as the orange bug in the street that excited my daughter so much this morning as she walked to preschool with her father. I can imagine you have touched more people than you will ever realise with that article and idea. Thank you for sharing your breakthrough with us. xx

  • I really felt the need to get back to taking a moment of gratitude regularly, so made one last night. it felt so good. then today i happened on your blog and it’s been open in my browser for the past few hours when i’ve been sneaking peeks and feeling inspired. thanks for your commitment to the project you’ve set for yourself…it is a gift.

    Hi,
I discovered your project in the Notebook mag.
The photographs are absolutely exquisite, and your project has inspired me to appreciate the little things in life a whole lot more.
    Thank you so much

  • Nel

I have read your story many times, and often have to go and find that notebook mag from april 09 (when they still had the cool tabs) to share it with a friend and just have another look at your little one with head phones on, and to remember there is always something special in each day – oh and I have started my own collection of heart rocks! (ta for that!) You are a wonderful artist and love that you share, Thanks for letting me and mine indulge. x
